Free Time Tracker for Freelancers

Plenty of “free” time trackers are a trial with a countdown. Tally's free plan has no time limit and needs no credit card. Here's exactly what it includes, what it doesn't, and when paying makes sense.
What's free
- Up to 5 clients, each with an hourly rate and a contract
- The timer and manual entry on iPhone, iPad, Mac (with a menu bar timer), the web and Android (in closed beta on Google Play)
- The last 7 days of history
- Jira, Linear, Notion, Asana, ClickUp, Trello, monday.com, Basecamp, Todoist and Figma
- Client report links and weekly, monthly and billing-period PDF reports
- Expenses and mileage
- The weekly recap email and the Claude connector
What Premium adds
Premium is $4.99 a month, or $39.99 a year (about $3.33 a month, 33% less), per user. The yearly plan starts with a 2-week free trial; monthly has no trial. Cancel any time. It adds:
- Unlimited clients and your full history
- Suggestions for work you didn't time, from GitHub, GitLab, your calendar and Figma
- Invoices with Stripe payments, with your expenses on them, and receipt photos
- CSV export, and reports for whole years and contracts
- Apple Watch with complications, widgets and Siri
- Slack, smart reminders, the API and webhooks
- Team workspaces and team contracts
Who the free plan is enough for
If you have a handful of clients, log your time as you go and invoice from your own tool, Free may be all you need. The 7-day history is the limit most people notice first: it's enough for a weekly routine, but not for looking back over a month. If you often forget to start the timer, the untracked work suggestions on Premium are usually what pays for it.
Coming from another tracker
Import your history from Toggl Track, Harvest or Clockify with a CSV export, on any plan. Entries already in Tally are skipped, so importing the same file twice is safe.
